Zheng Yan Rougui

Zheng Yan refers to the inner gardens protected in the Wuyi Mountain Natural Reserve. Rougui is one of the traditional yancha, Rock Tea cultivars. That makes this an old-school charcoal roasted oolong from the heart of Wuyi—made the traditional way to bring out deep, earthy, oily, sweet, grounding yanyun goodness. Yanyun, Rock Charm, refers to the essence of the Rock Tea, the lingering minerality and sweetness from the volcanic rock terroir. 

You can expect big aromas, gorgeous deep amber color, thick texture. Compared to other rock teas, Rougui paints in deeper and more elemental hues: quartz, cedar, leather, pipe tobacco. Against this backdrop, sweetness and tannins dance in harmony, leaving the drinker always wanting one more steep.

Peddler's note:

This is the tea for those who like their tea thick, heavy, grounding. It's a gongfu tea that asks you to slow down and be enveloped.
