The Story of Via Tiempo

Even as Via Tiempo began as a tea company with a Daoist-inspired seasonal approach to tea, it dreamed of becoming a hub for creativity and contemplative life.

Tea carries a storied history and an expansive, ever-evolving cultural heritage. Sharing countless pots of tea and Tea Letters, Via Tiempo found its heart in the unlikely connections of tea-kin under redwoods, at tea festivals, and online. 

With the Tea Oracle, that heart found expression. Captivating imagery became a gateway not only to contemplative practice, but to welcoming art more fully back into the fold. As Via Tiempo wanders on, lingering at each project to learn more about itself, it gains more access points for that same contemplative way of life that inspired its inception. 

The name Via Tiempo was borrowed from a street in the Tea Peddler's childhood neighborhood, but it was chosen because it came to evoke much more: the way, time, weather, the seasons, and, perhaps, an echo of vita contemplativa. As more tea-kin bring their own practices to the studio, what Via Tiempo means continues to expand in more diverse and delightful ways.

Tea Sourcing

Via Tiempo sources teas from farmers in China and Taiwan who cultivate with an emphasis on sustainable and cyclical practices.

Herbal Blends

Via Tiempo's herbal blends include hydrating, soothing, digestive, and other blends designed with the help of our community herbalist, Jem.

Packaging

All of our packaging is chosen with environmental impact as the primary concern. If you find plastic bubble wrap, it is being reused. Our pouches are compostable or post-consumer recycled. We gladly choose packaging that minimizes environmental impact over cost or convenience.
