Old Forest Jingmai Red - 1.5oz
On sale this week.
I love this Old Forest Jingmai Red for its delicious caramel flavor, stong qi, and a clear Jingmai terroir. Tea in Jingmai is cultivated as part of the cultural heritage of the Bulang people and others—called ethnic minorities in China—that live on this mountain. The trees can be up to 700 years old, and there is evidence that people have been drinking tea in the area for thousands of years. This Jingmai red tea is harvested in traditional ways that support the ongoing health of the forest. I call it Old Forest, rather than Old Tree, both because of the biodiversity of the forest where it grows, and the diversity of trees that the tea itself is harvested from. I don’t know the range of ages of the trees harvested for this red, but the average is 100 years old.
