Master Water Sprite

This Prize Winning Water Sprite represents the ideal of this cultivar and style of tea—in accordance with the centuries-old tradition of this rock tea. In the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian, Water Sprite (Shuixian) is known for it's steadiness, strong energy, subdued flavor, and strong lingering sweetness in the throat.

When you smell this tea you'll get loads of sweetness. When you taste it, you might find it missing, until you look for the lingering sweetness in the throat. This is the most prized and most characteristic element of rock charm (yanyun) for which this region is famous. 

For those not accustomed to the preferences of Fujian, this Prize Winner might not become a favorite. Perhaps you would prefer the more modern style. So who is this tea for? Those who want to be educated about the traditions of each tea. Those who like a bold energy in their oolong. Those who like woody teas like hojicha and kukicha.

Energetically, this is by far my most potent rock tea. Not a rush to the head, for some the feeling may be subtle, but if you are attuned you'll feel the transformative and bolstering energy filling you up from the very first steep.
