A high mountain oolong made of the purple leaf tea plant and oxidized to a deep red. The tea is smooth and velvety, with rich fruit notes like apricot jam, fig, and pear. Its joyful energy is comparable to a green high mountain oolong, but with a warm, centering quality.
The tea trees are the species camellia formosensis. They grow feral, planted long ago and untended, in Shan Lin Xi nature park. They have purple tips rich in anthocyanins.
