Dancong, or wulongs of Phoenix Mountain, are known for many things: the ornate fragrances that give many of these teas their names, shan yun (mountain charm) minerality, sharp refreshing bitter notes—which are usually referred to as floral notes.
These are some of the most impeccably nuanced teas available, and are excellent in gong fu cha. They demand attentiveness, and reward it.
Almond Aroma is an intricate aromatic dancong with a mixture of delicate floral notes and strong woody, nutty body. People who like this tea, are drawn to that balance. They appreciate not only it's almond fragrance, but also its steadiness. It reminds me of a mature oak, a solid trunk that grows steadily up. The energy feels like that too, strong and stable.
