The Indoor Summer Landscapes

The Indoor Summer Landscapes

When I celebrate a walk in the woods, tea under a tree, a trip to the shore—it is not intended to denigrate indoor spaces.

A carpet, a table, a cat, wounds and scents of cooking.

Here inside, protected from the sun.

Last night, I did my qigong out in the moonlight. It must have been 11:30. No need for a sweater.

Summer affords this. Just as at midday the living room and office become summer landscapes.

Adorned with tea-time, they perk up with the elemental presence of water, steam, clay, and leaf.
