These tea bowls are made by artist Mark Mohler using Lizella clay from Georgia, and a Japanese style Shino glaze. They are perfect for Bowl Tea, a simple and direct way of drinking tea—and one that I like to do with people during seasonal festivities. They are also a nice size for matcha. Each one is a little different, since they are truly hand made.
Drinking tea from a bowl like this can be a simple what to make a challenging tea much easier to drink, due to the quick heat dispersion. It also makes lazy tea more elegant with the two-hand sincerity of a bowl. Finally, it is intuitive and playful, reminiscent of the balance act of cereal and milk on endless refill with your favorite childhood cereal.
