This premium yancha, or rock tea, is made from one of 5 recognized classic oolong varietals from Wuyi. It is a robust tea with an energetic effect like a gentle qigong, relaxing and rooting. The taste is deep, dark, sophisticated and sweet. The mouthfeel starts of thick and viscous and tapers into the distinct mineral charm derived from Wuyi’s volcanic soil. It can be a little bit of a challenging tea—good to make a relationship with. Perhaps because of that, it has been one of my favorites of the year.
